How Do Writers Find the Time?

Hi fellow writers,

I’m curious to learn how you structure your writing life. How many hours do you spend each week writing and refining your work? How many posts do you usually publish in a month?

My blog focuses on book reviews, and I prefer a slow, thoughtful process, writing, refining, and revisiting before I publish. While I admire writers who publish frequently, I’m learning to respect my own pace, especially since writing in English takes extra effort for me.When I see others publishing consistently and frequently, I sometimes feel my writing process is slow. Since English isn’t my strongest language, I occasionally find myself doubting my abilities and even questioning my pursuit of this passion.

I’d love to hear how you manage your time, whether you write in one go or in stages, and what has helped you stay consistent without burning out. ⭐️✨⭐️

  1. Scheduling works…u could do that. U need not write everyday per se…just keep them lined up, so it feels like you’re writing coz it isn’t always possible to find time everyday, if you do…that is great

the holidays really wore me out!

    1. Oh, that’s called real passion. It is not easier to sacrifice sleep and mental health both for your passion.

It was a holiday season, so I can totally understand.

Also time with your kids sounds like the best kind of inspiration. Those lived moments always show up beautifully in art. 🖼️

  4. Very funny, Sarika.🤭😁 I dislike writing lengthy names, but for a respectful tone, I did it. Thanks for sharing your name.

My first language is Bisaya, followed by I think English because I didn’t talk much about Tagalog. That’s the three languages I can speak.

We’re the same, 3 languages. Marathi and Hindi sound interesting to me. I’ve come across that here sometimes, but I plead sometimes to reply me English. Too lazy to translate.🤭

    1. Haha, fair enough 🤭😁
And thank you for that, it does feel nice to be called by my name.

Bisaya sounds beautiful. It’s impressive that you speak three languages to, we’re the same that way 😊

It’s always interesting how language shapes how we think and write. It was nice having this conversation with you 🤗⭐️✨

      1. Yes, this is a beautiful connection, Sarika. I appreciate you. The reason I put my real name here is that I love people calling me that, not a pseudonym. Sarika is a beautiful name.

        1. That’s a great suggestion. 🙌✨🤗
I will definitely add my name in the name. Thank you ☺️

          1. My pleasure, Sarika. Then, I can easily remember you here, especially on replying since I can see your name, not euphoric reads.🤩

I just added my name on the site… 💃

  5. I write and read at my own pace, too. Some niche needs a lot of efforts and research unlike mine. Keep writing, Euphoric Reads. You can do it. English is my second language, too.

    1. I truly appreciate your encouragement, Hazel. ✨⭐️
It makes me feel a little better to hear you acknowledge that English is a second language and that some niche content naturally requires research. 💃
That understanding helps to ease to the process. 🤗✨

      1. What’s your first language? And you can share your first name if you’re willing coz your name here is lengthy for me.🤭

        1. I’m Indian and my first language is Marathi, followed by Hindi and then comes English 😬

          How about you?

And you know what? I was just thinking whether I should ask you to call me by my name, Sarika, instead of Euphoric Read and then you posted this question.
          Feels like telepathy 😬✨

  6. Writing has no fixed clock. Some days it flows, some days it waits.
Consistency is not about numbers, but about returning when the heart allows.

    This is the general advice.

    But I am different.

I am the busiest soul in this world, constantly dealing with other people’s never-ending problems, yet I still find time to write, post, read, comment, like, and follow—because anyone can find excuses, but choosing to show up is a choice.

    I may be wrong. 🙏🙏🙏

    1. Maybe I will follow your advice and simply show up. 🙌⭐️
I realise I am someone who still feels judgmental about everything I do, which makes me strive perfection in my writing. 🙈
Writing itself has never been a problem for me,I write my emotions and thoughts freely. But I hesitate to share them. I feel I need to curate, revise, and refine my words multiple times before posting, and that process isn’t always easy. Until it feels complete, I struggle to let it be seen by world. 😞

      1. My friend, thank you for sharing your thoughts and feelings. It’s completely okay to feel the way you do.
Honestly, most people care about the heart of the writing, not the structure. We’re not in an exam hall. We’re just sharing thoughts as they come.
English isn’t our first language, and there’s no grammar police here.
        If I’ve crossed a line, I apologise.
You’re doing a good job. Keep going.
        Namaste. 🙏🙏🙏

        1. Thank you so much for saying this. 🙏
Your words really put me at ease. You’re right, writing is about sharing what’s in the heart, not about being perfect.
I really appreciate your encouragement and kindness. 🙏

      2. I can totally relate to this.

I just started my first blog and every time before I click “publish” I second guess myself and the content.

        1. I completely understand this feeling, you’re not alone. I went through the same phase, especially in the beginning.
Hitting publish always feels harder than writing itself, but that doubt slowly fades with time and consistency.
Just showing up and sharing is already a big step. Keep going, you’re doing better than you think. 💛

    2. This is a perfect explanation! I just started my first blog after putting this off for years. I always found excuses to not start and I have seen so much fruit in the small amount of time that I have committed to writing despite the fact that I have many obligations. You are correct in saying that choosing to show up is a choice. And I would add that when we do choose to show up we will be surprised by the greatness that comes out of that choice.

  7. I post one short story a day but I get AI to help me with my writing. On good days it’s more me and on other days it’s more AI!

    1. Thank you for sharing that Joseph. I am still trying to get used to AI. 🤖
I will see if I can use it better…

      Happy writing. ✍️

  8. Your pace is perfect for what you write about. You have to read the book and spend some time thinking about it before you write the review.

I am a daily blogger who spends about an hour, maybe, a day writing about whatever topic comes to mind. My flash fiction pieces may take a little over an hour. I just write and publish with no rewrites. What you see of what you get, lol.

Don’t compare yourself with what others do. Just do what feels comfortable for you.

    1. Thank so much Tracie for your encouragement and good to know that you spend an hour daily writing.

Woww… that’s amazing that we get first hand writing.. In the world of AI, the rawness in the emotions feels more resonating
      than perfect sentences.🙌❤️

Appreciate your time for stopping by and sharing advice… I will try not to compare myself more to other writers… and take it more like an inspiration to improve myself . ⭐️✨🤗

      1. Yep, don’t worry about wjat others are doing, we are unique. And AI is just plain junk.

        1. Absolute agree. At times, it feels like AI goes round and round, sharing the same idea, just dressed up in different sentences 😄

I will work on your advice… Wish you a very happy weekend ⭐️✨🙌
