It’s a debut novel of a woman who had to pay very heavy price to voice out her own world , coated in some fictional characters. She let world know how women are brutally oppressed and ill treated in some patriarchal Palestine families. She let world know that the Quran holds women in high regard, but the mortals unfortunately don’t.She let world know that today also woman is still defined by a man.
The story titled ‘A woman is no man’ because she is considered inferior to a man, but a woman is also no man because what she might lack in is physical strength which she definitely makes up with resilience and emotional strength. It speaks about existence of Islamophobia in the world today , speaks about what happens behind these closed doors.She has exposed dark side of the Arab world.
Reading this book makes you angry,sad,disheartened,disappointed and even more disturbing ,just by knowing that this had happened in the country like America where liberty and freedom literally replaces common man’s basic needs. But at the same time it leaves you in a new perspective, realization and gratitude.
