“You cannot choose how you will die, or when. You can only decide how you will live now.”

Life is what you make it, so make it beautiful!!!
This book is not what you think or what I had thought. It is not any kind of self-help book; rather, it is a fictional story of protagonist Anks (Ankita Sharma), a girl in her 20s . It depicts the journey of an intellectual, an artist and one of the college topper students who was fighting with a special mental condition called “Bipolar.” I prefer calling it as a mental condition rather than a mental illness because our society terms people suffering mental illness as eccentric, odd, mad, and crazy. There is a stigma attached to anything to do with mental health. There is so much fear and many many misapprehensions.

The writer has woven the story in a way that you feel suffering and deep pain of character. It is engaging, and at the same time it helps to spread awareness about this special brain condition. Anks, an intelligent and beautiful girl ,she goes through the maniac episodes of high energy and productivity where she not only topped her MBA course at Bombay University with 97% marks but also developed very good artistic skills like painting and writing. But this good couldn’t stay longer with her and take into depressing episodes. It not only made her drop out of college but it made her life completely miserable and hell. Finally, the day arrived when she couldn’t walk the path of life anymore with this mess and had to push herself down to end her life to get over this darkness permanently. And yes, this is what happens when someone is suffering from bipolar and does not get the right treatment on time. She was not willing to come out of it despite continuous support from her parents and psychiatrist. Only one psychiatrist could bring her back to life, explaining that people with bipolar disorder are very sensitive. They are able to experience emotions in a very deep and intense way. It gives them a very different perspective of the world. It is not that they lose touch with reality. But the feelings of extreme intensity are manifested in creating artistic things where they pour their emotions into either writing or art or whatever field they have chosen.
